Azusa Police Notify the Public Regarding False Cell Phone Alerts

On June 26, 2017 at approximately 9:30 PM, the Azusa Police Department Dispatch Center started receiving phone calls from residents regarding a cell phone alert advising them to evacuate the City of Azusa due to fires. There are currently no fires burning within the city limits of Azusa and there are no evacuation orders. The cause of these alerts was an unknown telecommunications error. The Azusa Police Department is currently contacting telecommunications companies to advise them of the error.
