Azusa Police Serve Search Warrants On Multiple Locations

During the last several months, there has been an uncharacteristic increase in violent crime occurring in the City of Azusa. Azusa Police Department detectives have been aggressively investigating these crimes. As part of the investigations, a multiple location search warrant was obtained.

During the early morning hours of September 17, 2015, the search warrant was safely served. Assisting the Azusa Police Department were several other law enforcement agencies, including:

  • Baldwin Park Police Department
  • Claremont Police Department
  • Covina Police Department
  • El Monte Police Department
  • Foothill Special Enforcement Team
  • Glendora Police Department
  • Irwindale Police Department 
  • LA County Probation Department
  • Pomona Police Department
  • San Gabriel Valley East AB-109 Task Force
  • US Marshal's/California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Fugitive Apprehension Team
  • West Covina Police Department
  • Pomona Police Department

Evidence related to the investigations was recovered during the searches and the below listed suspects were arrested:

  • Jaime Cardenas, 30 year old Azusa resident - Possession of Narcotics for Sale
  • Edgar Perez, 25 year old Azusa resident - Possession of Narcotics for Sale
  • David Chavez, 20 year old Azusa resident - Violation of Probation
  • Saul Aquino, 19 year old Azusa resident - Bench Warrant

The suspects are being held at the Azusa Police Department Jail. Suspect Cardenas is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail, Suspect Perez is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail, Suspect Aquino is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail, and Suspect Chavez is being held without bail.
