A family gathering on the 500 block E Hollyvale in Azusa turned violent after several family members became embroiled in an argument.

On February 21st, 2016 at about 4:45 AM, an argument erupted into a physical fight between a 20 year old female Azusa resident and her 43 year old aunt, Bertha Herrera. Herrera is also an Azusa resident and has an alias of Alejandra Andrade.

As the two females fought, Herrera's boyfriend, Francisco Carrera, a 27 year old Azusa resident, got involved. He allegedly struck the 20 year old victim in the face with a beer bottle. As a result of the fight, the victim sustained several facial injuries which were treated at a local hospital.

During this altercation, Herrera also struck her 11 year old daughter in the face, causing a minor injury.

Herrera was arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Child Abuse. She was booked at the Azusa Police Department jail and is being held on $50,000 bail. Carrera was arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon . He was booked at the Azusa Police Department jail and is being held on $40,000 bail.
