Burglary Suspect Arrested on University Campus

Burglary Suspect Arrested on University Campus

On July 27, 2015 at about 3:15 PM, an Azusa Pacific University employee entered her office to find a man rummaging through her belongings, behind her desk. This male was later identified as 48 year old Azusa resident, Ruben Roman. Roman is neither a student nor an employee at the university. She confronted Roman and found that he had stolen her computer tablet from her desk. Campus Safety personnel responded, detained Roman, and contacted the Azusa Police Department. During the ensuing investigation, Officers discovered that Roman had been seen acting suspiciously inside the same campus building one week ago. During that time, some electronic items were stolen from the property.

Roman was arrested for commercial burglary and is being held at the Azusa Police Department jail, pending arraignment, with a $20,000 bail. During a subsequent follow-up investigation by Azusa Police Department detectives, one of the stolen electronic items from the previous week was recovered from Roman's residence.
