Lieutenant Paul Dennis
Lieutenant Paul Dennis is currently serving as the Acting Operations Division Captain.
Originally from England, Lieutenant Dennis grew up in the San Gabriel Valley. It was his athletic career that introduced him to the great City of Azusa in 1986. Lieutenant Dennis earned a Track & Field scholarship in high school to attend Azusa Pacific University and has remained in the city ever since. He has been a member of the Azusa Police Department since 1992. He was hired by the City of Azusa as a Jailer responsible for the booking, processing and overall welfare of arrestees housed in the city jail. Lieutenant Dennis spent 1 ½ years as a Jailer before applying for the position of Police Officer.
Lieutenant Dennis became a sworn Police Officer in February of 1994.
Special Assignments and Duties
Lieutenant Dennis has worked an array of assignments during his career with the Azusa Police Department. Those assignments include Jailer, Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, S.W.A.T. Team Member, sniper and S.W.A.T. Team Commander. He has served as a detective, Traffic Division Manager, Detective Lieutenant, Use of Force Instructor and Sector Area Commander for both the eastern and southern portions of the city.

Lieutenant Dennis holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management from Azusa Pacific University. In addition to his sworn duties as a Police Officer, Lieutenant Dennis is an Adjunct Instructor teaching Introduction to Preliminary Investigations and Introduction to Criminal Justice Courses at Citrus Community College. In his free time, Lieutenant Dennis enjoys spending time with his wife and children. He is a big basketball fan and enjoys watching and playing the game.
