On 10/20/16, Azusa Police Officers investigated a domestic violence incident in which a female was beaten by her boyfriend, causing bruising, cuts, and swelling to her face. The suspect was identified as David Delgado, a 28 year old Azusa resident. During the investigation, Officers learned that Delgado was on Post Release Community Supervision from a prior criminal offense, and that a no-bail warrant had been issued for his arrest for violating the terms of his early release. Officers from the San Gabriel Valley East AB109 Task Force searched for Delgado.
On 10/25/16 at about 4:50 PM, they located Delgado in a utility truck in the unincorporated area of Azusa. They notified Azusa Police Officers who attempted to stop and arrest him. Delgado fled in the truck, leading officers on a 20 minute pursuit through city streets. Delgado's reckless driving clearly exhibited a willful disregard for the safety of others. An Azusa Police Officer executed a pursuit intervention technique which caused the vehicle to become disabled. Delgado fled from the vehicle, leading Officers on a short foot pursuit. He was ultimately caught and arrested for felony domestic violence, evading arrest, resisting arrest, and the arrest warrant. Delgado is being held at the Azusa PD jail without bail and is expected to be arraigned on Thursday, October 27, 2016.
