After serving our community for over 32 years, Sergeant Andrew Sutcliffe is hanging up his duty belt and retiring. He has served this community with pride and dedication. Although we are sad to see him go, we are happy that he can now enjoy another chapter of his life.
Andy, AKA: call sign of "SAM-1" had an active and fulfilling career at Azusa PD. He held the following assignments and duties: Patrol Officer, Motor/Traffic Officer, Field Training Officer, SWAT Team Operator and Team Leader, Narcotics Detective, Patrol Sergeant, Detective Bureau Sergeant, Range Master / Firearms Instructor and Force Training Instructor.
"For more than thirty years I have had the opportunity to be a part of something I believe in. I am, and will always be, proud of who we are as a group, what we stand for, and what we believe in. I feel both privileged and humbled to have been a part of something that truly matters."
Sgt Andrew Sutcliffe
Sergeant Sutcliffe's tenure of 23 years on the SWAT team was one of the longest lasting in Azusa PD history. He was instrumental in procuring our first armored vehicle which was used and is still used for tactical operations and rescues. His efforts were so much appreciated that his ID# of 1066 was affixed to the truck when he retired from the SWAT Team.
Andy, you will be missed greatly...but enjoy your new life. You Made It!!
