On April 18th, 2016 at about 11:57 PM, Azusa Police Officers responded to a call of a stabbing victim near the area of Sixth St / Soldano Avenue. When they arrived they found a 49 year old Azusa transient with multiple stab wounds throughout his body. Officers rendered immediate first aid and were later relieved by LA County paramedics. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and his current condition is unknown. It was later determined that the assault occurred on the 600 Blk E Foothill Blvd, which is about three blocks away. Officers found evidence of a violent assault at that location.
During the investigation, a male was detained and arrested nearby for unrelated charges from an unrelated incident. Officers discovered evidence linking this subject to the assault. Azusa PD detectives and Crime Scene personnel took over the investigation and have subsequently charged the male with attempted murder. He is being held in lieu of $1,025,000 bail. Because of the current and on-going investigation his name is not being released at this time.
