Azusa Residents Evacuated Due To Structure Fire

This morning at 5:55 am, police officers from the Azusa Police Department and fire fighters from the L.A. County Fire Department were dispatched to a report of a structure fire at 328 N. San Gabriel Avenue. When the officers arrived, they found a detached, multi-garage structure partially engulfed in smoke and flames. The officers immediately completed a systematic evacuation of the residential building and adjoining residences, which thankfully resulted in no injuries or loss of life.

As the fire fighters arrived on the scene, the flames began to quickly spread from the original garage unit to an adjoining garage, causing additional fire and smoke damage. Fire fighters from four local stations aggressively attacked the fire and were able to extinguish it quickly. The original garage sustained significant damage.

The families from the residential building, which was undamaged, were not displaced. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by L.A. County Fire officials. The preliminary investigation does not indicate arson as a causal factor.
