On Monday, June 2nd, 2014, at approximately 8:30 pm, an attempted kidnapping of a 5 year old child occurred in the apartment complex at 540 E. Gladstone Street.
A forensic artist from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department completed the drawing below of the suspect. The suspect is described as a Hispanic adult in his 20’s, approximately 5’04”, weighing 150 lbs, and a bald head. He was wearing blue jean shorts and a short sleeved white collared shirt with a blue and red stripe.

Helpful Tips For Parents
Remember to never leave your children out of the sight of a responsible adult.
- Teach your children that it’s okay to “act out” when they feel threatened. In fact, role play with your child to make it fun for them as they learn that it’s okay to throw a tantrum, kick and scream if someone they do not know is taking or leading them somewhere. Let your children know if they are in a store, to start taking items off shelves, break products and generally create a huge mess. The more attention, the better!
- Place a bracelet on your child with the words “Reward” written on one side, and your phone number on the other. Teach your child if someone tries to take them, to immediately rip the bracelet and let it fall on the ground. This could provide a valuable clue to law enforcement.
- When you’re in a largely congested area, photograph your children. This way, law enforcement will have an exact description of not only your child, but their clothing and hair style.
- Don’t approach police officers and tell your children that if they keep on acting a certain way, the police officer will take them to jail. This is the absolute worst thing you can do! We want your child to run to us if they are in danger, not be afraid of us
