Man is arrested in a mountain cabin after alledgedly committing a crime in the City of Azusa
On February 2, 2014, Robert Arvizu, who is a 41 year old resident of Azusa, had alledgedly commited the crime of lewd acts with a child, which is a violation of California Penal Code Section 288. The Azusa Police Department investigated the crime, and summoned the assitance of the San Gabriel Valley East AB109 Task Force to help search for Arvizu, as Arvizu is on AB109 probation.
Fearing Arvizu was on the run, the task force determined through investigative measures, that Arvizu was in the City of Lake Arrowhead. After an extensive search of the area, Arvizu was located in a Lake Arrowhead cabin, less than 8 hours after the task force began assisting the Azusa Police Department.
Arvizu was taken into custody without incident. He was transported and handed over to the investigating Azusa Police Department Detectives.
The San Gabriel Valley East AB109 Task Force is a multi-agency team comprised of officers from seven cities including the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, the Los Angeles County Probation Department. Their primary responsibility is to conduct compliance checks on those individuals who have been released from prison under AB109, to ensure that they are complying with their terms of release. The Task Force is responsible for enforcement in the cities of Azusa, Baldwin Park, Claremont, Covina, Glendora, Irwindale, Pomona, La Verne, West Covina and Whittier.
