After surviving several flash flood warnings and watches from the National Weather Service, and an actual Tornado watch at 3:30 this morning, the first day and night is now behind us.
Today, there is expected to be more rain, lightning and thunder. It is expected to drop 1-2 more inches in the LA metro and Orange County areas, with 2-5 inches in the foothills. There are possible waterspouts in some Orange County areas. 3-6 inches of rain is expected in the valleys and Inland Empire.
Snow levels have fallen to 5,500 feet in the local mountains. There will be high winds and rain expected in the high desert.
Ridge View Drive
We know our valued residents living on Ridge View Drive are concerned about their property, and they want to know what is happening. Chief Sam Gonzalez made the decision to assign officers specifically to that street, for safety and security reasons. Even though the potential of a landslide exists, officers are currently patrolling the nighborhood, enforcing the mandatory evacuation order and maintaining the road closure.
At 5 AM, there was a downpour of rain which caused a gush of mud to flow from backyards into sideyards, and out onto the roadway. Click here to view some of these photos.
Evacuation Orders
The evacuation orders are still in effect for Ridge View Drive. Public safety officials and city leaders are constantly evaluating the conditions. We know our residents are anxious to return to their residences, however, the safety of our residents lives is our number one priority.

Mountain Cove Community
Although there are no evacuations or landslides expected in the Mountain Cove Community, those residents should use extreme caution when traveling on Highway 39. Be cognizant of falling debris, rocks and mud, as well as any obstacles in the roadway itself. If possible, try to remain home while this storm passes.
Highway 39
Highway 39 will remain closed until Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol have deemed the roadway is safe to reopen.
