Underage Decoy Operation Nets Two Violators

On October 24, 2014, Officers from the Azusa Police Department conducted a "Shoulder Tap" decoy operation outside of several different licensed premises in the City of Azusa. The goal of the operation was to test patron’s willingness to furnish alcoholic beverages to underage persons. A 19 year old minor decoy told customers that they were underage and could not purchase beer. The decoy then asked the customers to purchase beer for them. A total of two adults from two separate locations purchased beer for the underage decoys. They were cited for furnishing alcoholic beverages to a minor.

1-      Robert D. Campbell a 23 year old resident of Concord CA

2-      Jose C. Mota a 51 year old resident of Azusa CA

This operation did not target any of the licensed establishments and none of the establishments knew of the decoys’ presence. This operation is one of the many operations the Azusa Police Department has recently conducted in an effort to curb problems related to underage drinking. This and other future operations come as a result of a grant that was awarded to the Azusa Police Department from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.
