Azusa Police Arrest Auto Theft Suspect After Vehicle Pursuit and Hit & Run Traffic Collision

On February 8, 2017 at about 4:11 AM, Azusa Police Officers responded to the 900 block of W. Paramount on a report of an auto theft that had just occurred from the driveway of a residence. About 15 minutes later an Officer located the vehicle a short distance away. It was being driven by suspect Lino Centeno, an 18 year old Azusa resident. Centeno attempted to flee the scene in the vehicle with the Officer in pursuit. About two blocks into the pursuit, Centeno collided with a vehicle at the intersection of Jackson Avenue and Parkside Avenue. Centeno ran from the scene of the accident and jumped over a fence into an industrial field. Officers set up a perimeter and eventually located Centeno about one block away. The vehicle that was struck by Centeno sustained major damage. It's two occupants had complaints of pain but did not request any medical assistance. The stolen vehicle also sustained major damage.

Centeno was arrested and booked for auto theft, felony evading, felony hit and run, and he also had a no-bail arrest warrant for another criminal charge. He is being held at the Azusa PD jail until his arraignment on 02/10/17.
