news_release_standard

On September 9, at 5:17 p.m., the Azusa Police Department received a report of a possible drowning in progress in the San Gabriel Riverbed off Hwy 39 and the bicycle trail. Los Angeles County Fire Department also responded to the call for service. The circumstance of the incident was a family was swimming in the canyon water when a male adult subject (Los Angeles resident) entered the water on an inflatable water raft. The male subject fell off the raft and was submerged under water for a short period of time. Family members were eventually able to assist the male subject out of the water. The male subject was transported via ambulance to a local hospital where he was provided medical aid.

The Azusa Police Department would like to remind everyone that this area of the San Gabriel Riverbed off Hwy 39 and the bicycle trail is private property. Trespassers are subject to arrest. Additionally, the water currents within this area of the riverbed are extremely dangerous and not designated for swimming or water sports.
