On 4/2/17 at 10:32 PM, Azusa Police Officers responded to the report of a shooting, which had occurred in the 600 block of East Arrow Hwy.
On arrival, officers located a lone, male victim laying on the north sidewalk and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and extremities. Initial first aid was provided by the police officers and an off-duty nurse, who walked to the scene after hearing the shots. The suspect(s) had already fled the scene, possibly in a vehicle, before witnesses or officers arrived.
The victim was less than cooperative in providing details of the assault against him, and after being stabilized by paramedics from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, he was transported to a regional trauma center for advanced care. He is currently listed in extremely critical condition and underwent at least one, emergency surgery during the night.
Evidence was located at the scene and witnesses are being developed. A motive for the shooting has yet to be determined, but investigators have not ruled out the possibility of the shooting being gang-related. The incident is currently being investigated by the Azusa Police Department Detective Bureau.
