Death Investigation in Azusa

On March 7, 2019 at approximately 3:43 PM, Azusa Police Officers responded to the carports of a condominium complex at the 600 blk. E. Fifth Street regarding a report of a baby left in a trash dumpster. Upon arrival, patrol officers initiated a search of the dumpsters in the carports to locate the baby. Officers located a female newborn baby in a dumpster right as paramedics arrived at the scene. The baby was motionless and life saving measures were taken by paramedics from the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The baby was transported to a local hospital by paramedics for emergency treatment. Medical staff were unable to resuscitate the baby and she was pronounced deceased at 4:37 PM. Officers also located the baby's mother who was also transported to a local hospital for treatment.
