Resolved threatening phone call accusing me

Hi - I just received a threatening phone call accusing me of Paid Loan that they say I took out and asking me to call back. And saying they are taking me to court. If i pay this amoumt they will drop the case. The number they provided is: 800-250-5831 I believe this call to be related to a fradulent scheme, and am not sure what I need to do to report it.

Hi Willis,

Please contact the law enforcement agency where you reside to speak to an officer regarding this call. However, if you never took out the loan, then either someone used your personal information to apply for a loan, or this is a scam.

You may want to check your credit report. If you find there is in fact a loan on the credit report for which you never took out, then you are the victim of identity theft. Again, please contact your local law enforcement agency.
