Robbery and Assault at a Park

Robbery and Assault at a Park

On May 23, 2015 at about 1:10 AM, Azusa Police Officers investigated a robbery and assault that occurred at Gladstone Park, 414 S Pasadena Avenue, in Azusa. Both victims, an 18 year old male and a 24 year old female, were walking through the park. They were confronted by two male suspects. Suspect #1 asked the male victim where he was from, which is a common gang related question. The male victim told the suspect he was not involved in any gangs. Suspect #1 then sprayed the male victim in the face with what appeared to be spray paint. The male victim fled the scene.

Suspect #2 then asked the female victim what she was carrying in her purse and then threatened to sexually assault her. Before any further actions or additional conversation occurred, Suspect #2 told the female to leave and she promptly fled the scene. The victims left behind a motorized scooter. Both victims eventually reunited and called the police from a nearby residence. When Officers arrived to search for the suspects, they were both gone as well as the scooter. It is assumed that the suspects left the location with the scooter.

Neither of the victims reported any injuries.

The suspects are described as:

Suspect #1- Hispanic male, 18-20 years old, 5-10/160, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, a black baseball cap, black pants, and a black bandana on his face.

Suspect #2 – Hispanic male, 18-20 years old, 5-07/150, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and white shorts.

If anyone has any further information about this incident they are encouraged to call the Azusa Police Department at (626)812-3200.
