    Mandated by the State of California, Adult Protective Services (APS) is a 24-hour service program designed to investigate all reported at-risk situations without regard to income involving individuals 65 or older and dependent adults (18-64 who are physically or mentally impaired). Types of referrals include physical, sexual or financial abuse, isolation, neglect, or self-neglect. Referrals are received through the Elder Abuse Hotline or from other entities.

    The California Partnership to End Domestic Violence is a statewide membership coalition of domestic violence agencies and victim service providers that was formed in 2005 through the merger of the California Alliance Against Domestic Violence (CAADV) and the Statewide California Coalition for Battered Women (SCCBW). These two organizations joined together to form one state coalition to foster unity within the domestic violence movement in California.

    The National Domestic Violence Hotline was established in 1996 as a component of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) passed by Congress. The Hotline is a nonprofit organization that provides crisis intervention, information and referral to victims of domestic violence, perpetrators, friends and families. The Hotline answers a variety of calls and is a resource for domestic violence advocates government officials, law enforcement agencies and the general public.

  • Project Sister
    Project Sister Family Services began as a response to a series of violent assaults against women in the Claremont and Pomona areas. At that time there were no local services to assist survivors of sexual assault in Pomona and East San Gabriel Valley. A small group of women responded to this need by beginning a 24-hour hotline out of their homes. In 1972, the vision and compassion of these idealistic young people and those who helped them resulted in the beginning of a non-profit organization they named Project SISTER (an acronym for Sisters in Service To End Rape). Since then, Project Sister Family Services has grown to annually serve more than 45,000 women, children, and men with services that reflect its mission.

    The StopBullying.gov coordinates closely with the Federal Partners in Bullying Prevention Steering Committee, an interagency effort led by the Department of Education that works to coordinate policy, research, and communications on bullying topics.   • Marsy's Law Victim Bill of Rights
    Marsy's law provides victims with rights to justice and due process. Its intention is to also eliminate parole hearings in which there is no likelihood a murderer will be paroled, and to provide that a convicted murderer can receive a parole hearing no more frequently than every three years, and can be denied a follow-up parole hearing for as long as 15 years.
