A third suspect has been arrested in a shooting of subject in the 500 block of W. Tenth Street, which occurred on March 27th, 2015. Click here to read the original news release regarding this shooting.
Through their diligent investigation of this crime, the Azusa Police Department's detective bureau subsequently arrested three suspects; Anthony Jimenez, Julian Garcia, and Kristie Sandoval. Their arrests were made possible with the assistance of other law enforcement agencies, which you can read about here.
On April 17th, 2015, at approximately 7 p.m., a third suspect, Jose Chacon Gomez, was also arrested in connection with this case. He was located and detained by a US Marshal's/California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Fugitive Apprehension Team, who transported him to the Azusa Police Department's Jail, where he was booked on attempted murder charges. All three suspects were held in our jail over the weekend.
On April 20th, 2015, the case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for filing consideration. After reviewing the case, the DA's Office filed charges on all three suspects. They were charged with one count of attempted murder, with special enhancements for the use of a handgun and participation in a gang crime. The suspects are being held at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Jail, with a bail set at $2,050,000.

For many, their only exposure to the Azusa Police Department is when they see one of our black-and-white police cars traveling through their neighborhoods, or on the roadway as they go to and from work or running errands. Even less seen or heard from are the men and women of the detective bureau. Many people only see the black-and-white police cars patrolling
These specially selected officers utilize their training, instincts and perseverance to investigate crimes and present their cases to the district attorney's office, for the prosecution of those responsible.
